USAA Fort Innovate

Captivating kids with innovation to tell the story of USAA's 100th year anniversary.

Game Design // UI // UX

USAA wanted to host a traveling exhibit that gets kids across the US to engage with their story of military innovation, from walkie talkies to night vision — and dream about how they innovate too. The activation had several digital gaming components, from AR to team roleplaying. My role was helping execute on the night vision game and the walkie talkie game.

My Role - Lead UI Designer

Clear micro interactions for an untraditional cursor.
To tell the story of night vision, the team concepted a zoo escape game, where kids would use motion tracked "night vision" binoculars to illuminate the screen and find the escaped animals. The user flow and interaction patterns had to remain nuanced, and kid friendly.
Some innovation takes team work.
To highlight walkie talkies, the team concepted a partner game where kids would locate screens across the room to deliver each other secret codes through a walkie talkie to progress through the game.
Consistent UI and brand voice.
For the large number of interactions in this activation, our team worked hard to ensure brand consistency across touch points, from game to game, to the physical space.
Next Project:

Concepting the future of mental health care on college campuses.
